My Thoughts
I am so glad I picked up this book, Ken Follett is certainly one of the masters of historical fiction. I love books where you feel that you are being transported back in time and watching the events as they are happening and this happens to me whenever I read a Ken Follett novel.
In the beginning of the novel it was a bit confusing how all the characters were connected however I feel this is done to give the reader background information so when the characters become intertwined the reader feels a connection to all the characters and I think this is something Follett does beautifully.
I found that in Follett’s typical style the sex scenes were described in more detail than perhaps the reader wanted but I think this would be the only negative thing about this book that comes to mind. Overall this was a great read and I would recommend to everyone that loves historical fiction.

>Did they make this book into a movie (with Donald Sutherland?)I'm glad you enjoyed it, this sounds like it will be right up my alley.http://www.ManOfLaBook.com
>Yes…this was made into a movie with Donald Sutherland. Great movie…I've never read the book.
>I have not read any of Follett's books, but I intend to rectify that this year. Was this one of your favorites of his? I was thinking of starting with the recent chunksters…
>I didn't know they had made this book into a movie. This was one of my favourites but I loved Pillars of the Earth and World without end as well.
